By now, you’ve probably seen us and Nudestix fans around the world using our new Tinted Cover foundation in both our day and night makeup routines. Not only does it have a natural, buildable amount of coverage, but it’s super nourishing and works like skincare so that you feel hydrated and comfortable throughout the day. And though it works well as a base complexion product on its own, it also works really well with its sister product, our Tinted Blur Stick. Read on to learn how to mix and match your favorite Nudestix complexion products.
The amazing thing about the Tinted Cover foundation is that it both preps and evens out your skin for makeup application. You can use your fingers, a buffing brush, or a beauty sponge to evenly distribute the product around your face, depending on what kind of coverage you’re looking for. Using your fingers to smooth it in first will help the product melt into your skin better, and you can use either a brush or sponge to help it blend in seamlessly with your skin; a brush will offer more buildable coverage with a satin finish, while a sponge will sheer it out for a dewier effect.
Because Tinted Cover is a more hydrating product, it can make your skin appear shinier and it does not help control oil, and that’s where Tinted Blur comes in. Our Tinted Blur stick is made to smooth over pores, blur the appearance of texture, fine lines, and wrinkles, and it helps mattify oilier parts of your face. If your skin is combination or oily, you can use the Tinted Blur Stick over your Tinted Cover base to spot treat areas that need more coverage or need oil control. This is especially great in your t-zone and on the apples of your cheeks where oil can peek through throughout the day.
Once your whole complexion base is finished, the Tinted Blur Stick can also be used as a cream highlighting and/or contouring product. The stick formulation allows for easy application, and because it’s made to be a base complexion product, it blends in seamlessly with the products underneath it. Use a shade two or three shades lighter than your skin tone to bring light to areas of your face like the under eyes, the center of the forehead, the bridge of the nose, and the chin. With a shade two or three shades darker than your skin tone, contour your face in spots like the hollows of your cheekbones, around your hairline, along your jawline, and on the outsides of the nose. You can also swipe the lighter shade directly below your cheekbone contour to clean it up and make the contour sharper.
Tinted Blur can also be applied with your fingers, a brush, or a sponge, though for a more precise application, a brush probably works best. A sponge will give you a more diffused look so the highlights and contours look more natural on your skin.
Now that your skin is totally prepped, highlighted, and contoured, you’re ready for the rest of your makeup routine! Use our Nudies Bloom, Bronze, Blush, and Glow products to add pops of color and dewiness to the rest of your face. All of our products layer well with each other — and with products outside our line, for that matter — so you can play around to your makeup loving heart’s content.
